I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS IS WHY CATS LIKE MILK SO MUCH (FOR KIDADLE)
It’s common knowledge that our furry feline friends, cats,
like milk a lot. We see this every time we watch movies or cartoons. I bet you
already know what Tom’s (Tom & Jerry) favorite meal is. Yep, you guessed
right. It’s milk.
Cats are often associated with milk, just like rats are
associated with cheese, and monkeys are associated with bananas. These guys are
attracted to milk and yogurt because of the fats and protein that they can
sense and smell within the dairy products.
But I bet you didn’t know that these dairy products are
actually unhealthy for them. Yep, it’s true. You must be wondering now, why the
media keep saying otherwise?
Well, you’re in luck! In this article, we will be discussing
why you shouldn’t feed your cat cow’s milk, ways to ensure that your cat stays
hydrated, the best drink for your feline friend, other treats to feed your
bundle of fur instead of milk, and why cats like cream so much. But before
that, I advise you to check out our previous Kidadle post about cats.
WHY YOU SHOULDN’T FEED YOUR CAT COW MILK
I know that while you’re reading this article, your adorable
furry pet is somewhere in the room lapping its milk passionately. You’re
smiling from ear to ear, happy that your kitten is enjoying its treat. But just
because they love dairy products doesn’t mean you should treat them to one, and
here’s why.
Cow’s milk does not support all the essential nutrients for
your cat’s health. And that’s not all. Most cats are ‘lactose intolerant’ as
they don’t have enzymes in their intestines to digest the sugar in milk
(lactose). You might not have suspected it, but that’s why your kitten vomits
or gets stomach pain after drinking it!
WAYS TO ENSURE YOUR CAT STAYS HYDRATED
I know it’s sad, but you can’t keep treating your cat with
dairy products. Those adorable furry pets may not understand it, but you have
to stop because you love them and it’s what’s best for them. However, there are
other things you can do to make sure they’re hydrated instead of giving them
milk.
Clean out and provide fresh water in bowls every day. Switch
to wet cat food or try giving them meat-flavored water from a trusted pet food
store.
BEST DRINKS FOR YOUR FELINE FRIENDS
Now we’re talking about keeping your kitten on a healthy
diet, there are other things you can feed them other than water. For the most
part, your feline friends should just drink water. But adding something like a
little tuna juice or bone broth to their regular water routine can add a lot of
variety to mealtime.
OTHER TREATS TO FEED YOUR BUNDLE OF FUR
Thank you for making it down here in this article, but
before you ask “What should I treat my kitten then?” These are actually more
healthy things you can treat your bundle of fur to cheese, bananas, berries,
melon, carrots, rice, and fish. You might not know this but feeding your
kittens oily fish such as tuna or mackerel can help their eyesight, joints, and
brain.
WHY DO CATS LIKE CREAM SO MUCH?
Congratulations! You’ve made it to the very end of this
article. And as a reward, I’m going to tell you why cats like cream so much. As
I said in the introduction (if you still recall), those furry balls can smell
the fats and protein in dairy products that’s why they like it so much.
